SHOP CRAWLS combat retailers SHOPping ONLINE, downtown committees.FINALLY! Retailers have figured out a really neat way to combat the current tendency for customers to shop online. Retail store owners and down-town planning committees in a number of U.S. cities are busy organizing shop crawls.
The WSJ relates that there have been a variety of “crawls’ – all the way from a 3-hour vintage/salvage shop crawl to a summer shop crawl complete with cocktails. It would seem that the possibilities are endless – just stir in a little bit of ingenuity and creativity with an interested shopper market – and voila! a cool idea come to fruition. My congratulations to the retailers who were responsible for instituting the idea – and to those groups who continue to use and embellish the idea. American ingenuity at its best! Eat your heart out, Jeff Bezoa!
