POLITICALLY DESTRUCTIVE PRACTICES: civility & respect organizational culture: I’ve recently been astonished and sickened to learn of two national events where reputations were destroyed or impugned in a purposeful and vicious manner. Is this the new norm? Is this what we are to advise our clients of in businesses around the country and internationally? Is this what we are to pass on as “acceptable behavior” to our children? I think not! The vicious (and proven untrue) attack on Admiral Ronny Jackson, the White House doctor who was appointed by the President to serve as the Cabinet Member to lead the Veterans’ Administration – an organization well-known for its mis-steps both in the past and the present – is unconscionable. And, carried out by someone in Congress, no less, and in a completely despicable manner that was fed and egged-on by a fellow-physician who saw herself as a “competitor” of Dr. Jackson. Imagine if the other side of the aisle had conducted themselves this way during the previous administration – the entire country would be up in arms.
The same was true of the “humorous” treatment of Sarah Huckabee Sanders at the recent White House Correspondents’ Dinner – during a “roast” at that event. Would this have been treatment that was allowed of the person in that position in the previous administration? Absolutely not.
Thus, it’s time to come to grips with the bullying that is being carried out by one political party against the other party. Let’s step back, realize what has happened here, and soundly repudiate this kind of behavior – in politics or in any other walk of life. What happens in politics radiates around the country and ultimately effects us all. Time to put a stop to such atrocities, in the name of civility and respect.
