SALES REPORTING IN THE AUTO BUSINESS

General Motors has determined that releasing sales data on a monthly basis doesn’t appropriately present the true picture of their overall sales.  In their words, “Thirty days is not enough time to separate real sales trends from short-term fluctuations in a very dynamic, highly competitive market.” Comparing across automobile companies just became far more challenging.  But, good for this company in determining old practices that no longer work and seeking those that can work better.
