INTEL, QUALCOMM, BROADCOM

Today’s news that President Trump has put the kibosh on Broadcom’s interest in a hostile takeover of Qualcomm, citing national interests, has quickly put a new spin on the dilemma faced by Intel.  Intel, recognizing the prospect last year of a possible merger of Broadcom and Qualcomm, had been considering an attempt to purchase Broadcom (at a cost of more than $100 billion) in a desperate effort to prevent an amalgamation of their competitors into one behemoth.  Another one of those areas that we’ll follow with an interest in the ultimate outcome – Could it be possible that Intel still has an interest in a Broadcom purchase?  And, if so, would the merger of the two also be considered analogous to the security threats posed by the Qualcomm merger?
